The Artist

I see the year has once again snagged a gallopin' horse and ridden off into the sunset. I don't mind telling you, this is getting scary. Like a carousel hurrying to keep up with the music I go round and round and keep running into myself. Does anybody out there identify with this? I thought so.

We didn't have any fun this year as you can tell by the photos on this page. It's a hard life, but somebody's gotta do it. Whatever did we do with ourselves before ponies and pistols!

The year wasn't without a challenge or two. You figure you've got yer herd all rounded up when a couple bust out on their own and ya hafta cowboy up. (For you city slickers 'cowboy up' means dusting yerself off and gittin' back in the saddle after that bronc called Rattler makes ya' a yard dart.)

Lee is enjoying painting western themes and learning to use the digital camera to photograph field reference. He also is living a boyhood dream working on occasion as a cowboy for friends who own a nearby ranch. We made the usual national rounds of art shows and enjoyed teaching at the annual Wyoming Artists' Conference.

Sadness sometimes rears its ugly head. We had to put down ole Shadow, our Lab of 17 years, Gandalf, our 18 year old kitty, and Pam's Morab horse, Shalimar. We miss them dearly. But on the brighter side we have a new Australian Blue Heeler, Mongo. He was 3 1/2 years old when he graced our presence, and we also inherited a wild mule, Isabella ("Izzy").

Hugs from, Lee, Pam, Mongo, Miss Daisy, Shalimar, Windcatcher, Sandy and Izzy.
